PROESA™ / Feedstock
Feedstock

The variety of biomass used

PROESA™ works with a large number of lignocellulosic biomass types. Hundreds of acres of land in Europe, Africa and Asia have been used to evaluate the efficiency of non-food plants, both from the technological and economic point of view. Beta Renewables offers its Clients experience in establishing supply chains and identifying the best feedstock solutions according to the local characteristics of the Projects being developed. To list some examples, Proesa™ has been tested on the following types of feedstock:

Dedicated Energy Crops

  • Arundo Donax (giant reed)
  • Miscanthus
  • Switchgrass
  • Napier grass
  • Fiber sorghum

Agricultural residues

  • Wheat straw
  • Rice straw
  • Sugarcane bagasse
  • Sugarcane tops and leaves
  • Corn stover
  • Oil palm residues

Mix of feedstocks

It is also possible for cellulosic ethanol plants using PROESA™ technology to run on campaigns, that is using different types of feedstock throughout the year, or to use certain similar biomasses together at the same time. This enables even larger scale plants to enjoy supply chain flexibility and reliability, thereby containing costs.
